MUSCATINE, Iowa - George Burton Hahn, 90, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, at St. Luke's Transitional Care Center in Cedar Rapids.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Reverend Brian Oliver will officiate. A private family burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will take place at the church, after the service.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the church. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church in George's honor. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
George was born on January 23, 1932, in Muscatine, the son of Fred L. and Louise B. (Blass) Hahn. He married Patricia "Pat" Ridge and they have been happily married for 72 years.
George was a Muscatine High School graduate. After High School he attended and graduated from Cornell College where he played basketball. After he graduated college, he returned to Muscatine and was involved in the Hahn Brothers business and later owned and operated Hahn Concrete Products. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the Elks. George served as an Exalted Ruler and several other Chair Offices at the Elks. He also sang with the Elks chanters.
George was very active outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He spent a lot of time at his pond on his acreage watching wildlife, geese, and goslings. George and Pat spent their winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida for 50 years.
George is survived by his wife, Pat Hahn; one daughter, Denise, and her husband, Dr. James Erusha, of Cedar Rapids; son-in-law, Dr. Timothy Sexton; two grandchildren, Matthew Erusha and Kathleen Kelley; three great grandchildren, Claire, William, Beckett; one brother, Jim F. Hahn of Muscatine; brother-in-law, Randy Ridge and his wife, Cindy; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Deborah K. Sexton; in-laws, Harold and Evelyn Ridge; and sister-in-law, Bebe Hahn.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Stoney Point Meadows Cedar Rapids, St. Luke's Transitional Care Center, and Dr. Clete Younger, and his staff for the care and compassion they showed George.
