Maxine Joyce Mayville
September 6, 1924 - August 22, 2022

Mrs. Maxine Joyce (Wier) Mayville peacefully passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022 at the age of 97, just two weeks shy of her 98th birthday.

Maxine was born in Muskegon, Michigan on September 6, 1924 to Jacob and Goldie (DeGraw) Wier. She grew up with her eight brothers and three sisters, who all predeceased her. After graduating from Fruitport High School in 1942, she supported the war effort by working in various factories in Muskegon County. On August 24, 1946, she married Bruce Mayville, a Navy veteran returning from the South Pacific. Bruce later worked at S.D. Warren. Maxine and Bruce had three daughters and enjoyed 53 years of marriage until he passed away in 2000. Maxine was reunited with her beloved Bruce two days before their 76th wedding anniversary.

Maxine was an avid golfer and held the rare honor of scoring two holes-in-one during her lifetime. She also enjoyed knitting, completing crossword puzzles, and playing Scrabble and card games. Maxine held various jobs during her lifetime, including working as a telephone operator and as a clerk at W.T. Grant's department store, and running an in-home daycare. She also served her community as a Brownie scout leader. She attended Central United Methodist Church in Muskegon.

Maxine is survived by her three daughters, Diana Case of Norton Shores, Barbara (Paul) Dalberg of St. Joseph, and Suzanne (William) Capp of Spring Lake; nine grandchildren, Heather (Michael T.) Arnold, Jason Case, Ryan (Sharon) Case, Trevor Case, Alison Case, Anastasia (John) Tipler, Magdalene (Justin) Henderson, William (Abby) Moulatsiotis, and Elizabeth Capp; 16 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joy Wier, Charlene Wier, and Maxine (Mayville) Schultz; and many nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 11 siblings, Edwin Wier, Myron Wier, Jeanne (Herb) Eggerstedt, Robert Wier, Francis Wier, Donald (Joy) Wier, Caroline (Harry) Frank, Russell Wier, Jack Wier, Sally (Fred) Weise, and Brian (Charlene) Wier.
