"Aunt Pat and Uncle Harold were my Godparents. I loved them SO MUCH! I have only good memories of them and being with them. As a child, I often ran away to their house if I didn't go to Nonnie and Buppa's house. I miss them but there is consolation in knowing their final resting place, chosen by Aunt Pat, is so very close to my parents and grandparents with whom they enjoyed so much love and life. After Mom died, I often snuck into the hospital laundry to help where I could so I could be close to my Nonnie and Aunt Pat. I am a grand daughter of Charles and Genevie Rennpferd (Schmidt) sister-in-law, and daughter of Gary and Elaine Wurtinger (Rennpferd) niece, all of whom preceded Aunt Pat in death. Patricia Jean Schmidt, of Antigo, died Monday, September 5, 2022, at The Bay at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. She was 86 years old. She was born on June 30, 1936, in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Albert and Norma (Bauer) Thielke. She married Harold Schmidt on April 28, 1956, at Arbutus Lutheran Church in Pearson. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1998.
Pat was raised by her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Lee Ystad. She worked for Johnson Candy Factory in Milwaukee for one year before marriage. She moved to Wittenberg and was employed at Malueg's Flower Shop. In 1967 she moved to Antigo and worked at Langlade Memorial Hospital in the Laundry Department for 15 years.
Pat was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Antigo. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoyed doing crafts and traveling with Harold after retirement.
Survivors include a son, Don Schmidt of Pickerel; a daughter, Debra (Joe) Bradley of Rhinelander; Nathan (Karen) Hintz and Alex (Carrie) Hintz, who she considered grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis Peuschold of Milwaukee and Don (Linda) Ystad of Nekoosa; two sisters-in-law, Wilma (Loren) Lucia of Antigo and Marcella Schmidt of Antigo; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Betty, Shirley, Dorothy, Dolores and Joyce; brothers, Ken, LeRoy and Jerry; and a brother-in-law, Ivan Schmidt.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Burial will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery in Antigo. Visitation will be Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

"I am so sorry to hear of Pat's death. I am a Stephen Minister from Peace and was assigned to see Pat, and visited her for over a year, until I got Covid. Then this past month another Stephen Minister took over. I remember Pat as being kind of funny and she always liked it when I prayed with her. She would ask me about Peace and was interested in the building of the child care center. I really enjoyed visiting with her and taking her chocolate chip cookies which she said were her favorite.
