Albert Sonck Jr. passed away September 1, 2022 in Detroit, Michigan at the age of 85. Albert was born October 8, 1936 in Iddergem, Belgium to Albert Edmond Sonck and his wife Emilia Paternoster. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and later worked for the City of East Detroit, now known as Eastpointe, doing maintenance and a variety of other Public Works services. Despite both having grown up in Belgium Albert met Helena De Braeckner, his future wife while in Canada.
He is survived by his daughter Diane (Carlo) Englise and sons; Richard (Mary Jane) Sonck and Randy (Candy) Sonck, Grandchildren; Carlo Englise II, Christopher (Amanda) Englise, Anthony (Karen) Sonck, Joshua Sonck, Michael Sonck, and Emma (Matthew) Oldham and 4 great grandchildren Theodore, Benjamin, Isla and Milo with his 5th, a great grandson on the way. Albert was preceeded in death by his beloved wife Helena Sonck on March 17 of this year and his grandson Nicholas who passed in infancy.
A memorial gathering for Mr. Albert Sonck Jr. will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 4pm - 8pm with Memorial Service 5:30pm at the S.K. Schultz Chapel of Chas. Verheyden Inc.. 21705 Gratiot Ave., Eastpointe, Michigan 48021. The family also invites you to share you memories with them here at Verheyden.org
