Judy Lee Walker was born on July 28, 1950, in Fort Leavenworth, KS to William and Alberta (Rickel) Walker. She grew up in St. Joseph, MO where she received her education.
On August 14, 1973, Judy was united in marriage to Leo Dale Shirley, the couple made their home in Boone where they raised their family and were blessed with two children, John and La Homa "Homie". Judy served as the president and CEO of the family and home headquarters. They later moved to Buffalo, MO until Leo passed in 2018 and Judy returned to Boone a couple years later.
Judy was always looking for ways to become involved and help others. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Boone, Ladies Auxiliary of VFW, Red Hat Society, DAV Auxiliary, and volunteered at the Boone movie theater. She also enjoyed taking motorcycle rides wherever the road took her and Leo, long trips with the family, playing cards, live concerts or attending Big Wigs Bingo Night. Most of all she loved life and helping other humans; she was always looking for ways to have a good time with friends or anyone who wanted to join.
Those left to remember her are her children, John (Regena) Shirley and Homie (Ian) Simmonds; grandchildren, Jordan Simmonds and Kaine Simmonds; great-granddaughter, Aurora Anne Marie Hand; sister, Theresa Keveson-DuBarr; sister-in-law, Sally Dugan; cousins, Lori Dugan, Leona Skaggs, and Debbie Johnson; and many other extended family members and hosts of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo in 2018; sisters, Ella May (Gene) Velasquez and Faye Walker; and sisters-in-law, Tena Dugan, and Karen Dugan.
