GARY SHINGLEDECKER
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Gary "Red" Shingledecker, 78, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.

Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home in Muscatine. Pastor Dave Hoffman will officiate. Gary was born on August 21, 1944, in Muscatine, the son of Carl and Mildred Bierman Shingledecker. He married Marsha Schmidt on December 1, 1995 at New Hope Church, in Muscatine.

He was a retired employee for the City of Muscatine, though many would know Gary as a life-long barber, even taking over Harold Lee's shop after his retirement. Gary kept his license up to date, including plans on recertification in October. He also enjoyed garage sales, flea markets and antique shops, collecting John Deere toy tractors, as well as buying and selling classic cars. He was the type who always had a project going.

Gary will be missed dearly by his wife, Marsha; son Casey Shingledecker; step-sons Austin Schmidt and his wife Jill of Oskaloosa, and Brandon Schmidt of Lady Lake, Florida; grandchildren Cameron Shingledecker, Mitchel Shingledecker, Ayden Schmidt, and Tate Peakin; siblings Sharon Sheridan, Carla Conn, and Debra Leese and her husband Roger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bradley Shingledecker; and his dog, Coco.
