In loving memory of

Sheila Sheckells (Ward)
May 5, 1960 - September 28, 2022

With deep sorrow, we announce the death of our beloved Momma, Sheila Sheckells (Ward), 62, of North Port, Florida. Sheila passed away on Sept 28th 2022 due to the hurricane.

Sheila was born in Sarasota, Florida and graduated from Riverview High School in 1979. She was a kind soul who took in any that needed love and care
and became a mother or friend to all, two-legged or four. She loved and took care of the residents of the nursing home she worked at for close to two decades.
She found peace being outdoors and enjoyed many activities there, including woodworking and gardening. As a former military wife and a Marine grandmother, she proudly supported those who fought for our freedom right up until she drew her last breath. She also supported the Girl Scouts including her granddaughter. She was not only a loved daughter, sister and mom, but an even more beloved Grandma.

Sheila was predeceased by her father and brother Howard and Michael Ward.

She is survived by her two daughters Maria (Michael) Gibbs; Jessie (Tyler) Fischesser; her 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Cori, MacKenzie, Selene, and Torin; her mother, Hilda Ward, her sister and brothers, Cindy, Richard, and Carl; a host of nieces and nephews; and loved dearly by her boyfriend, Greg.

In lieu of flowers, we are collecting donations for a bench in her memory at one of her favorite fishing spots (city/county willing on the spot). That way we all can take a seat or rest with mama for a bit in her favorite place. For those asking how they can donate in mama's memory the city/county does not have a donation process for individuals we will have to pay in one lump sum so currently we have set up Venmo @SheilasBenchMemorial , Zelle 9412230185, or a good ol fashion card with check earmarked for moms memorial bench 195 Columbia Rd. Venice FL 34293. Anything raised above what is needed for this we will donate in Mom's honor to multiple of her favorite charities.

Please join us in honoring the life of our dear beloved mother, Sheila Sheckells
