Carol Jira
May 6, 1944 - October 11, 2022

Carol Jean Jira, of Deerbrook, died Tuesday, October 11, 2022. She was 78 years old. She was born on May 6, 1944, in Antigo, a daughter of the late William and Harriet (Carlson) Igl. She married Robert Jira on June 16, 1962, at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo.

She graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1962. She looked forward to attending her class reunions.

Carol taught classes for the After School Program at North Elementary School in Antigo. She was a leader for the Mayflower 4-H club for many years. She volunteered at the Langlade County Youth Fair in the Arts and Crafts Department. She also enjoyed exhibiting her crafts and antiques at the fair for 40 years. Carol enjoyed arts and crafts including, scrapbooking, and ceramics. She had an amazing ability to make people laugh and smile.

Carol was a member of St. Wencel Catholic Church, the church Rosary Society, and taught religious education. She was also a member of the Langlade County Rural Fire Control Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband, Robert; two daughters, Jean (Gary) Jenicek of Freedom and Mary (Mike) Jira of Eagle River; three sons, Joe Jira of Little Chute, Tony (Lynn) Jira of Deerbrook, and Chris (Mary) Jira of Deerbrook; nine grandchildren, Sabrina, Camille, Bailey, Holly, Riley, Derek, Lissette, Kevin, and Katie; three sisters, Rosemary (Ray) Galuska of Antigo, Marge Auger of DePere, and Theresa Seymour of Neenah; five brothers, Donald Igl of Antigo, Raymond (Sue) Igl of Antigo, Gary (Shirley) Igl of Florida, Eugene (Judy) Igl of Bryant, and William (Pam) Igl of Neenah.

She was preceded in death by her son, Rob Jira; a brother, Richard Igl; a sister, Mary Ann Zorko; a sister-in-law, Verna Igl; and brothers-in-law, Mike Auger, Steve Seymour, and Jim Zorko.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 17, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wencel Catholic Church with Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will take place in St. Wencel Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. both at the Bradley Funeral Home. A parish wake service will be held on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
