Sister Dolores Demulling
March 20, 1930 - October 21, 2022

Sister Dolores "Dee" Demulling, Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph (RHSJ) passed away on October 21, 2022 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital at the age of 92. She was born in New Richmond on March 20, 1930 to Anna Rosalia Schwan and Edward Joseph Demulling. She was the oldest of seven children.

She received her secondary education at New Richmond High School. Sister Dolores entered the Novitiate of the RHSJ in Palos Park, Illinois in August of 1947. She graduated from St. Bernard's School of Nursing in 1952 in Chicago. She continued her education and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from De Paul University, where she also received a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration.

Sr. Delores established the first Oncology Cancer clinic at St. Bernard's Hospital. She became the Director of Nursing Services in the hospital and taught student nurses.

She held many leadership positions and under her visionary leadership, she maintained the values and catholic presence which were the hallmark of the RHSJ hospitals in Canada and the United States.

Sr. Dolores received a Psychology and Theology Degree from Boston College in 1988 and taught students at the Niagara Nursing School in Ontario, Canada. After this time Sr. Dolores was assigned as a team member in Montreal, Quebec. She was also a Provincial Counselor for a number of years at St. Joseph Provincial House in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

In 1988 she came to Antigo where she establish the LeRoyer Hospice Program. For the next 25 years, she was privileged to care for the sick and dying in the community. She will be remembered for her kindness. She was tirelessly devoted to the mission of Aspirus Langlade Hospital, where she also served on the board of trustees.

She touched countless lives throughout the community and embodied the care and compassion that defines Asprius Langalde Hospital.

In 2013 she retired from hospice ministry but kept a close relationship with the hospice staff and Sarah Stoehr, who was able to succeed Sr. Dolores in this ministry.

In 1995 she was instrumental in founding the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph Associates, a lay organization supporting the religious order.

Survivors included three sisters, Sr. Adele Demulling RHSJ, Antigo, Sr. Denise Demulling SDS, Milwaukee, Sharon (Steve) Rochel, Danbury; a sister-in-law, Connie Demulling, New Richmond; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Germain; and two brothers, Dalton and James.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St John Catholic Church with Rev. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. The Knights of Columbus honor guard will lead the funeral procession.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25 at the church in Hoffmann Hall from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.

A wake service will be held at 5:30 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus will pray the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the church in Hoffmann Hall.

On Wednesday the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph Associates will pray the Rosary at 10:15 a.m. in the church.
