Gayland Paul Miller, age 77, passed away on October 30, 2022, at Israel Family Hospice House. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Grandon Funeral & Cremation Care (414 Lincoln Way, Ames Iowa) Interment will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery (34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel Iowa) on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 9:30 a.m.

Gayland Paul Miller was born to Joseph George Miller and Pearl Cecilia Kelting on March 6, 1945, in Jefferson, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area, graduating from East Green High School in Grand Junction, Iowa, with the class of 1963. Following his primary education, Gayland entered into service with the United States Navy until his Honorable Discharge in December of 1967. Gayland would go on to spend 27 years as a Lieutenant firefighter. He would go on to retire from the Rhode Island Department of Transportation after 10 years of service as a bus operator.

On April 4, 2007, Gayland and Nan Yu Miller were united in marriage. Together the two would make their home in Ames, Iowa.

Preceding Gayland in death are his parents, Joseph and Pearl Miller.

Gayland is survived by his loving wife, Nan Yu Miller; daughter, Jean Lee Gardiner; granddaughter, Christina Pannone and a great-grandson, Silas.
