John C. Marvel "Jack", on October 31, 2022, of Somerdale; formerly of South Philadelphia. Age 53.

Loving husband of Danielle (nee Whipple). Devoted father of Connor and Lily. Cherished son of the late Charles and Eileen. Dear Brother of Charles, Jr. (Margie), Paul (Nancy), Steve (Kerry) and the late Michael. Brother-in-law of Roland Andrews, Christian Whipple (Nicole), Drew Whipple (Theresa), Melissa Christinzio (David), Ryan Whipple (Ana). Son-in-law of Marianne Whipple and the late Buddy. Uncle of Charles, Ronnie, Ali, Ally, Kristen, Grace, Madison, Olivia, Ryder, Anna, Cody and Aleysea.

Jack worked as an electrician with IBEW Local 98. He was deeply passionate about giving back to the community and was a founding member of the Burke Fund Playground. Jack loved the beach, was an avid Philly sports fan and was known for his jokes and sense of humor. He was a longtime basketball coach for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a member of the Pirates NYB and marched with the Froggy Carr NYB. Jack was a very loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

There will be a visitation Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 5 pm to 7 pm at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.

Additional visitation on Monday, November 7, 2022 from 10:45 am to 11:45 am at Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Agnes Church.

Funeral Mass 12 pm at the Church. Interment private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's memory to Katie Kirlin Fund 229 Wolf St. Philadelphia, PA 19148.

"My condolences to the family. I worked with Jack for many many years at the Convention Center as a Engineering Coordinator. I would occasionally go take breaks at the Electric shop and he would always make me laugh with his jokes, or give me good advice when i was having a rough day. We always talked about our kids. Connor and Lilly your dad was so proud of you both. The last time I spoke to Jack was before the pandemic, i got laid off to never return but treasure every moment of our friendship.
