Margaret "Jean" O'Connor. Age 94 of Grosse Pointe Woods. Beloved wife of the late Donald F. O'Connor.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1927. She attended St Mel's High School. In 1946 she married Donald F. O'Connor and moved to South Bend, Indiana. There they raised their 3 children- Dianne, Don and Maureen. In 1964, they relocated to Birmingham, MI. Jean worked as a libriaran at Bloomfield Hills library. Her husband's job relocated them once again in 1971 to Youngstown, New York.
Jean found enjoyment as a librarian at Niagara University. She was an avid reader and enjoyed all book recommendations.
In her later years, she moved back to Michigan to be closer to her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and later great grandchildren. She loved to travel with family spending several winters recently in Naples, Florida and summer vacations to northern Michigan.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Dianne (Dan) Aitken, Maureen Clements, Daughter -in- Law, Nan O'Connor, grandchildren Kelly (Andrew) Gwinnell, Christina Clements, Kyle Clements, Katelyn (Steve) Meyer, and Brian O'Connor, Great grandchildren Eddie Clements, Drew Gwinnell, Gwyneth Gwinnell, and Mia Meyer.
She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Ann Ellman, sister Joanne McKinley and Eileen Stolberg, her husband, Donald F. O'Connor and her son, Donald J. O'Connor.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday, November 16th; Instate 9:30am until the time of Mass, 10:00am, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 22412 Overlake, St. Clair Shores.
