In loving memory of

Jeanette Elaine Devon
April 21, 1947 - November 20, 2022

Jeanette E. Devon (nee: Steinhauer), age 75, died on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She was born on April 21, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Harry and the late Jean (nee: Rainer) Steinhauer.

Jeanette, more affectionately known as Jan, grew up in Detroit and graduated from Finney High School. After graduation, she went on to take college courses through Eastern Michigan University. Jan spent several years as a dedicated stay-at-home mom before starting her career at Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Jan's passion was rescuing animals. She saved countless dogs and cats by rehoming them to family and friends. She also loved spending time with her family.

Some of her greatest memories would be the road trips that she would take. It did not matter where she was going, she enjoyed the experience of traveling somewhere new.

Jan was the loving mother of Tara Devon and Maija Dravnieks. Dear grandmother of Armand and Grayson. Beloved sister of Thomas (Patricia) Steinhauer, the late Susan Mikulak, and the late Gail Steinhauer-Jensen. She is further survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

A visitation will take place on Saturday, November 26 from 12 noon until 7 pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 16300 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Jan's name to any animal based rescue charity of your choice.

"Jan was truly one of a kind. A strong woman, she was eclectic, unique & spirited in the best ways. She was quick witted & sharply smart. She held nothing back, she lived like few do. She loved her family fiercely & her animals dearly. David Dittberner "

"Jan was my best friend for many years. We met at BCBS 20+ years ago. We were kindred spirits from the beginning. I will miss our long, crazy conversations over dinner and a few drinks. (Ok .. it was more like many drinks....) Jan was one of the smartest people I have ever known. She that loved her two and four legged family members and was a sucker for a stray animal. I will miss her. Rest in peace my friend. "
