Joseph Nickerson

Joseph E. Nickerson, 69, of Nevada passed away on December 18, 2022 in Nevada.

Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Nevada American Legion, 1331 6th St, Nevada, IA 50201.

The family has decided there will be no funeral services. The family will spread Joseph's ashes according to his wishes.

Joseph was born in Milwaukee, WI to Francis and Tommy Jean Nickerson on December 26, 1952. He went to school in Independence, Iowa. His family eventually moved to Alabama. On September 30, 2005, he married Dawn Tyler in Ames, Iowa. Joseph served in the Navy for 19 years. During his Navy career he served in the Vietnam War. He managed/supervised several companies over the years. In his free time he loved to spend time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Joseph is preceded in death by his mother Tommy Jean Nickerson, his father, Francis E. Nickerson, and his sisters: Doris Jean Gibson and Laura Edwards and a son Bryan Nickerson.

Joseph is survived by his wife Dawn Tyler, children Melissa Nickerson-Bergman (Scott), Matthew Nickerson, Megan Tyler, Katelyn Thompson (Brook). He also survived by his grandchildren; Bryce Bergman, Kurtis Bergman, Kayden Nickerson, Sawyer Jo Nickerson-Bergman, Greysen Bergman and Crue Thompson.

Memorials may be given to his family.

The family of Joseph wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Mary Greeley Medical Center, the Veterans Hospital of Des Moines and St. Croix Hospice.
