Rita Brasel
February 24, 1955 - December 30, 2022

Rita Brasel, of Bryant, died unexpectedly on December 30, 2022, at her home. She was 67 years old. She was born on February 24, 1955, in Shawnee, Kansas, a daughter of Richard and Virginia (Poole) Hays. She married Wayne Brasel on July 28, 1973 in Springfield, Missouri.

She was a graduate of Glendale High School, class of 1973. She attended the Vocational Technical College in Springfield to receive her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

In 1977, Rita and Wayne moved to Des Moines, Iowa to raise their family and be a stay-at-home mom. She worked for Corn States as a corn broker for seven years until her retirement in 2008. Rita and Wayne moved to Bryant in 2020.

Rita liked to travel and go on trips. A favorite was when they visited and rode mules in the Grand Canyon. She enjoyed gardening, camping, quilting with the ladies at Four Corners Assembly of God Church, and spending time with her grandkids.

Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years; a daughter, Christina (Tom) Grisham of Bryant; a son, Darrell Brasel of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren, Abbey and Tabitha Grisham, Tristen and Ashlyn Brasel; a brother, John Hays of Medical Lake, Washington; and her close friend, Deb (Leroy) Striegel of Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 12 p.m. at Four Corners Assembly of God in White Lake with Rev. Marvin Kindle officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 a.m. till the time of service at church.
