William Robert Murray

William Robert Murray, 84, of Sarasota, FL passed away on December 7, 2022 in Sarasota, Florida.

Bill was born in Steubenville, Ohio to Robert W. and Mildred L. Murray on July 29, 1938. Bill graduated from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, with a Liberal Arts Degree. He worked as a Funeral Home Director and Embalmer for 9 years before making the switch to Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as Distribution Manager. He retired from Goodyear after 36 years of service.

After many years of being snowbirds between Topeka, Kansas and Sarasota, Florida, Bill and his lovely bride made the move permanently to Sarasota and the wonderful community of Southwinds Retirement Park. In 2020 Bill and Susan transitioned to Sunnyside Retirement Village.

Bill's greatest joy in life was his relationship with Jesus Christ. He loved to teach Bible Studies. Whether at Perimeter Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Atlanta, Topeka Bible Church, Covenant Life Church (PCA) or Southwinds, he would always get involved to teach and help others study the Word of God. After Christ, Bill's greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of over 60 years. He was a wonderful father to three, grandfather to 5 and great-grandfather to 6.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his son Jay Robert Murray. Bill is survived by his wife Susan of Sarasota. His daughters Amy (Rick) Henning and Joy Layman; Five grandchildren Jason (Nikki) Henning, Joshua Haines and his partner Tyler Cunningham, Zachary (Jiin) Henning, Emily Layman and Caleb Layman; and 6 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10:30 am at Sunnyside Village Chapel, 5201 Bahia Vista, Sarasota, FL .

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Sunnyside Village Chapel. The family wishes to express its gratitude to all of the amazing staff at Sunnyside Village.
