GERTRUDE W. GALLAGHER
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Gertrude W. Gallagher, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at UnityPoint Trinity Hospital in Muscatine with her husband at her side.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Susan Bantz will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com. Memorials may be made in her honor to Grace Lutheran Church.

Gertrude was born on May 31, 1933, in Muscatine, the daughter of Oscar and Alice Wittke. She married Robert Gallagher on December 15, 1967, in Moline and they just celebrated 55 years together.

She was a graduate of the University of Iowa and worked as a legal secretary in Muscatine. She was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling the U.S. and wintering in Arizona with Bob, and even made a trip to Israel as well.

She is survived by her husband; nephews, Ron Gallagher of Washington, Tim Gallagher of Bedford, and Mike Gallagher of Hills; and her close friends, Rani M. Thomas of Texas and Mary Cavasos of Muscatine; a brother, Rudolph Wittke; and a cousin, Paul Wittke of Tennessee.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; 5 sisters-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law.
