Alice Sylvia Cavanaugh
October 4, 1941 - January 30, 2023

Alice Sylvia Cavanaugh passed away peacefully on Monday, January 30, 2023. She was born on October 4, 1941, in Whalan, MN to Sidney and Alma Johnson.

After she attended high school in Lanesboro, MN, she went on to meet and marry her husband, Mike. She was married to Michael Cavanaugh on December 1, 1962, in Whalan, MN. She worked in Cedar Rapids, IA for a brief period after getting married, before moving to Rochester, Minnesota to work for Mayo Clinic in the business office. She went on to work at Dayton's/Marshall Field's/Macy's in 1979 for over 25 years where she made many lifelong friends. She was also a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran church.

Alice had a passion for fashion, and, if you knew Alice, you knew you could count on her to find the best bargains! She enjoyed gardening and had a great display in her backyard. She also liked to spend time with her beloved Persian cats, Willie, and Jack. Most of all, Alice enjoyed spending time with her family and took an active role in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was always there for them and instilled the importance of family throughout her entire life.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Michael "Mike" Cavanaugh; daughter, Trisha Means; sons Tim (Karen) Cavanaugh, Tony (Jennifer) Cavanaugh, and Travis Cavanaugh and brother Ardell (Karen) Johnson. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren Megan Means, Avery Cavanaugh, Camron Cavanaugh, Emme Cavanaugh, Annie Cavanaugh and Cassie Cavanaugh.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (1212 12th Ave NW, Rochester, MN 55901). Visitation will be held from 2:00pm-5:00pm on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes (5421 Royal Pl. NW Rochester, MN 55901) as well as one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Whalan Lutheran Church Cemetery, Whalan, Minnesota.
