In loving memory of

David Michael Ruhf
August 22, 1946 - February 13, 2023

Ruhf, David Michael, 76 years old, of Grosse Pointe Park, passed away on 02/13/2023 in Detroit, MI. He is survived by his son, Eli D. Ruhf, daughter-in-law Maureen Mahoney-Ruhf and the light of life, his grandson Benjamin F. Ruhf. He spent the last twenty years with his loving companion, Cindy Peck, and was the most caring father figure to her children, Michelle Peck, Jason Peck, and Rachaell (John) Rodemich. He was also "Papa" to Cindy's granddaughter, Alana Peck.
Although he called Chicago home for 6 years, Dave was an east side of Detroit and Grosse Pointe Park mainstay. After early retirement from Traveler's Insurance Company in 2010, he enjoyed yearly travel to Florida for the Detroit Tiger's spring training, New Orleans for the Jazz Fest, and his old neighborhood and regular haunts in Chicago. In recent years he could be found at the Grosse Pointe Park Library at least three mornings a week, as he was an avid reader. He also loved to feed the ducks at Angel Park with his grandson, throw balls and dole out biscuits to his two best four-legged friends, Bo and Jovie, and enjoyed a weekly standing dinner date with his love Cindy at one of their many favorite local restaurants. Known as "The Chief" to his son's friends, he was loved by all who knew him and is already greatly missed. Celebration of life to be held at a later date.

"I work at the Ewald Branch Library that Dave always frequented. We became friends over the years, and I am heartbroken to hear this news. We at the library are all so sorry about this. Dave always asked how we were doing, how our families are, and always had a happy smile and kind words to share. I will miss his seeing him so often. I'm sending prayers to all who loved him."

Many times he would clear their driveway and walk when it snowed and it was a comfort knowing he was next door when my parents were alone. I am so sorry to his son, Cindy, and the extend family for his loss and wish to offer my sincere condolences."

"Though I have not seen you since I was young kid, I will always remember you as my Godfather. You and Shirley. Eddie and you used to love throwing me head-first into the couch. The photo shown is exactly how I remember you. Always a lot of fun. Even used to call you Uncle Dave back in the day cause if someone said David, we both would look. Left this earth on Mom's Birthday, I know my mom and dad will love seeing you again. My sincere condolences and prayers to the entire family. "

"My first cigar was with uncle Dave on his back porch. Gave me his jacket because I was underdressed for the cold Detroit weather. Still have the jacket and wear it any time the worlds just a little too cold. Great man. Proud to have him in the family. "

"Dave was one of the good guys, I am so glad he and Cindy found each other. We got to share time with him and make some great memories. There is a definite hole in our hearts and our family without him here. I feel we all gained a new angel on our teams."
