Ligia Obando

Ligia Matilde Borja de Obando was born in Jipijapa, Province of Manabi, Ecuador on May 9, 1928. The couple formed by Rosa Elena San Lucas de Borja and Carlos Alberto Borja Gonzales engendered seven children in Jipijapa.
Rosa Elena San Lucas de Borja transferred six offspring to Guayaquil where Ligia met Luis Filiberto Obando Navas a native of that city. The couple was wed in 1950 and produced three children; Maria Auxiliadora Obando Borja, Jose Luis Obando Borja and Carlos Luis Obando Borja.
In 1960, Ligia and Luis moved as permanent residents to Brooklyn, New York and had their children arrive in September 1963.
She had a career as a real estate agent in Long Island and belonged to various congregations in Freeport, New York. It was a full and satisfying life as her children have produced three grandchildren Kevin Charles Kane, Nicholas Obando and Christian Obando.
The family has a history of longevity and Ligia passed away in Seattle, Washington at the age of ninety-four on March 5, 2023 of natural causes.
