Carmella M. (Venuto) Spear on March 17, 2023 recently of Blackwood, NJ, formerly of South Philadelphia. Age 84.
Beloved wife of the late George W. Spear, Jr. Devoted mother of George W. Spear III (Susan) and Allen Spear. Loving grandmother of Gabrielle, Marissa and Alessandra Spear. Dear sister of Marie Orlando (Cesare, Sr.) and the late Rose DeAngelo. Also survived by many cousins and nephews Marc Orlando and Cesare Orlando, Jr.
Along with her entire family, Carmella took pride in owning and operating her store "Carmella's Hoagies/ Spear's Water Ice" in South Philadelphia. She loved theater and performing arts, music and cooking. She was an avid reader and taught ballroom dancing. She was also known to play the lottery! Carmella had strong Christian values having been raised in a Catholic home; she always had a rosary by her side.
Carmella was proud of her granddaughters and all of their accomplishments.
There will be a viewing from 10AM-noon Saturday, March, 25, 2023 at Gardner Funeral Home, Runnemede, NJ.
Funeral Mass at 12:30 Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 12:30 at Holy Child Parish, St Teresa Roman Catholic Church 13 E. Evesham Road, Runnemede, NJ 08078.
Entombment, Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill.
