In loving memory of

Kathryn Swagger
February 28, 1939 - May 6, 2023

Kathryn Swagger, age 84, was ushered to her heavenly home on May 6, 2023. Her strong faith in God gave her peace in her final weeks when it was clear that her body was declining. She commented that God had prepared her.

Kathryn was born on February 28, 1939 in West Florence, MN, to John and Florence (Michaelsen) Dankers. She was the youngest of nine children and grew up on the family farm in West Florence. She was a graduate of Lake City High School in Lake City, MN, class of 1957. Kathryn married Raymond Edward Swagger on October 24, 1958. Raymond preceded her in death on January 23, 2021.

Kathryn was a long-time resident of Summit Lake, WI. She loved her lake house and the community on Bass Lake. She was known for her kindness, unconditional love, and hospitality. Kathryn was devoted to family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her joy. Her passions were cooking, creating new recipes, entertaining in her kitchen, and playing cards. She was a faithful member at Accension Evangelical Lutheran Church, Antigo, WI.

Kathryn moved to Pine Meadow, Antigo, in 2021 and enjoyed her new community. She briefly resided at Rosalia Gardens, Antigo. The family is ever grateful for the compassionate care that Kathryn received through Aspirus Health in Antigo, - her doctors, favorite nurse Heather, and staff at Pine Meadow, Rosalia Gardens and LeRoyer Hospice.

Kathryn was blessed with a large and loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Charles) Maris of New Berlin; son, Terry Swagger of Arizona; grandchildren Charles Ray (Carly) Maris, Robert Maris, Emily Maris, Eddy (Terri) Swagger, Anthony Swagger, Amy Swagger, Michael (Danielle) Swagger; great-grandchildren, William, Grace and Liliana Swagger; brother, Gordon (Verlene) Dankers, cherished brother-in law and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband of 62 years, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Lori; sisters Mary Ann Seipel, Erna Mueller, and Eunice Abel; and brothers, Alvin "Dusty", Rollie, Maurice, and Dennis Dankers.

Burial will take place on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Lakeside Cemetery, Summit Lake, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at Michael's Restaurant, Antigo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the family in Kathryn's honor to either LeRoyer Hospice or Ascension Evangelical Lutheran Church, both in Antigo.
