Rose Mary Dorothy Hanus
April 10, 1928 - May 9, 2023

Rose Mary D. Hanus, age 95, of Antigo, died on May 9, 2023 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born on April 10, 1928 in the Town of Neva, a daughter of Nicolaus and Fredia (Brennecke) Tiedemann. She met Donald Hanus at a dance at the Elk's Club in Antigo, they were married June 21, 1946 in Tomahawk. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2006.

For 24 years Rose Mary worked for the City of Antigo as a Meter Maid and Crossing Guard. The kids were always in her thoughts; she even gave her husband a parking ticket while he was waiting for her to finish work. She also worked for the Sheriff's Department as a cook.

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and a life member of the Leland-Tollefsen Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Unit 2653, Antigo.

She enjoyed cooking, picking berries, and adopting rescue animals. Her last adopted pet was Big Bird. Her thoughts were always with her cousins, Sandy, Sue, and Richard Brennecke.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Fenske of Wake Forest, N.C.; a son, Donald Hanus, Jr. of Antigo; daughter-in-law, Arlene Hanus of Wittenberg; 12 grandchildren, Renee (Josh) Igl of Wausau, Jennifer Hanus of Wausau, Heather Hanus of Cecil, Rosemary (Andrew) Hanus of Wittenberg, April Hanus of Wausau, Cassandra (Timothy) Woods of Antigo, Mitchell Hanus of Stevens Point, Logan Hanus of Wittenberg, Sara Hanus of Wittenberg, Wendy (James) Jackson of Bryant, Dustin and David Fenske of Wake Forest, N.C.; and many great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Carl and Dale; and three brothers, Gerhardt, Otto and Henry Tiedemann.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. David Karolus officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home and Monday, May 15 at the church from 1 to 2 p.m.
