George Joseph Pamerleau

George Joseph Pamerleau, a loving husband, father, and educator, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2023, in Detroit, Michigan. Born on January 27, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, George was a selfless, loving, and kind man who dedicated his life to his family, students, and community.

George is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Elizabeth Ruth Pamerleau, and his children Mary Bresser (Jim), John J. Pamerleau (Kathy), Elizabeth Ann Doyle (Dan), and Paula Bejin (Bill). He was predeceased by their son Christopher David Pamerleau and his son from a previous marriage, George R. Pamerleau (Heidi). George also leaves behind his siblings Jeanne Bruno, Ann McConnell, John D. Pamerleau, Dianne Brekke, and Joan Powers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, George R. and Elizabeth A. Pamerleau.

George received his bachelor's degree from Ball State Teachers College and went on to have a distinguished career as a teacher for Grosse Pointe Public Schools. He was a dedicated educator who touched the lives of countless students, earning the prestigious Teacher of the Year award twice during his tenure. As the Social Studies Department Head at Parcells Middle School, George was instrumental in curriculum development and was known for his passion for teaching and his unwavering commitment to his students.

His enthusiasm and dedication to the school community were evident in everything he did, and he was a beloved figure both in and out of the classroom.

Outside of his professional life, George was a World War II connoisseur with a deep appreciation for history. He was an avid fan of auto racing and enjoyed spending time outdoors, embracing his love for nature. George's interests were diverse, and he was always eager to share his knowledge and passions with those around him.

George's selflessness extended beyond his family and career, as he was actively involved in various community organizations and initiatives. His commitment to making a difference in the lives of others was evident in all aspects of his life, and he will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones and community.

In his personal life, George was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his family. His love and support were unwavering, and he was a constant source of strength and guidance for those who knew him. George's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the lasting impact he made on his family, friends, and community.

As we remember George Joseph Pamerleau, we celebrate a life well-lived and honor the memory of a man who was truly selfless, loving, and kind. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 17th from 2pm to 7pm at Chas. Verheyden, Inc., 16300 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Park. A private burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
