Jeanne Konek
May 17, 1937 - May 17, 2023

Jeanne Konek, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, on her 86th birthday. She passed peacefully at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames with family by her side.

A celebration of Jeanne's life will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Central Iowa Expo, 1827 217th St Suite 1 in Boone. There will be a 1:15 p.m. prayer service with burial to follow at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Jeanne Alice Pedersen was born May 17, 1937, in Boulder, CO; she was the daughter of Christian and Cornelia (Warrell) Pedersen. She grew up in Hasting, NE where she graduated high school before continuing her education with business classes.

On April 14, 1956, Jeanne was united in marriage to Emerson Frank Inks, shortly after getting married the couple moved to Ames and were blessed with two sons, Jeff, and Randy. Jeanne had a 32-year career as an Administrative Secretary at Sundstrand, which is now Danfoss. Emerson passed away in 1997 after the couple had been married for 40 years. In 2000, Jeanne met Bernard "Bernie" Konek. The couple married in 2004 and Jeanne gained two stepchildren, Kurt and Amy. Jeanne and Bernie continued to live in Ames and enjoyed retirement living in Florida and most recently Arizona.

Jeanne was an avid golfer who experienced the magical moment of a hole-in-one. She was a proud and enthusiastic Iowa State Cyclones fan along with her family. Jeanne also enjoyed dancing, bowling, creating glass art, and RV trips throughout the country as well as traveling internationally; especially to the Bahamas. Most of all, Jeanne treasured time spent with her entire family and making memories together.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Bernard; children, Jeff (Susan) Inks and Randy (Pamela) Inks; stepchildren, Kurt (Becky) Konek and Amy (Tim) Morales; grandchildren, Angela (Alfonso) Chavez, A.J. Inks, Grant Inks, Hayley Konek, Payton Konek, Sydney Morales, and Geneva Morales; one great-grandson, Emiliano Chavez; and her brother, Craig (Mary Ellen) Pedersen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Emerson.

Jeanne loved animals, and her wish was that memorial contributions may be made to the Ames Animal Shelter.
