Jerry E. Tenney 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Hayward, WI on May 17, 2023. Jerry was born in 1931 and raised on a farm outside of Antigo, WI, the youngest of 9 children to Ella and Jerry Tenney. He served two years in the United States Army National Guard. Jerry married Hazel Lund on October 30, 1954, at the First Methodist Church in Madison, WI where they lived together for 62 years.
Jerry worked in Madison as a Sears Repairman for several decades, and there was nothing he couldn't fix. An avid woodworker and craftsman, Jerry was a hunter and outdoorsman his entire life. In 2018 he retired to the cabin he built outside of Hayward after Hazel passed. He was preceded in death by 7 sisters and a brother. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends Dawn & Mike Coy.
Special thanks go out to neighbors Heidi & Don Becker, and Brenda & John Meier; for all of their help and friendship over the past several years. We can never adequately thank Hayward Hospice nurses, Julie and Maria, along with Linda from ADRC of Sawyer County enough for their kindness and support. They certainly are angels among us.
Per Jerry's request, there will be no visitation, but a graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Antigo on Tuesday, May 23 at 12 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Jerry's life will be held in Madison at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Sherman Avenue United Methodist Church, 3705 N Sherman Ave, Madison, WI 53704.
