Judith Hemstock
June 30, 1936 - May 19, 2023

Judith Alice Hemstock, 86 years old, of Ames Iowa and formerly Nevada Iowa passed away Friday morning, May 19, 2023.

She was born in Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, raised on the family farm in Nevada, graduated from Nevada High School and resided in Nevada for many years. After moving to Ames, she worked at the Iowa State Highway Commission for 30+ years. Judy was active in the Rainbow Girls, White Shrine and a 50-year Centenarian member of Eastern Star in which she held several offices. As a child, she loved her dogs, riding horses, showing her Collies and animals in 4H, and growing up with her Cousin/Sister Janet Dieslter.

As an adult she enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending many holidays in New Jersey with family. She was also a 30-year breast cancer survivor. She is predeceased by her parents Thomas and Joan Hemstock, her stepmother Myrtle Hemstock and her baby brother. She is survived by her family in New Jersey, Cousin/Sister Janet Diestler-Schon, Gregg Schon and Douglas Schon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Foundation.

A service and viewing will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way, Ames Iowa.
