Craig A. VanDerBunt, of Pearson, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023. He was 71 years old. He was born on August 16, 1951, in Milwaukee, a son of Bill and Connie (Golomski) VanDerBunt. He married Susan Ward on April 17, 1971, in West Allis.
He was a graduate of Brookfield Central High School, class of 1969. Craig served in the United States Army Reserves from 1970 to 1977 and received the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked in the commercial construction industry and was a real estate investor. He retired from Safway Steel and Scaffolding in 2007 and he and Susan moved to their cabin on Rolling Stone Lake.
Craig was a man with a heart for volunteering. He worked with the March of Dimes and coached youth Little League baseball in Delafield. He was a dedicated Milwaukee Brewers fan and movie buff. He enjoyed bluegill fishing, carpentry, Sheepshead, and other card games.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Susan VanDerBunt of Pearson; two sons, Michael (Lori) VanDerBunt of Rhinelander and Steven VanDerBunt of Pearson; a daughter, Christine (Jeff) Olson of Hartland; four grandchildren, Katlyn and Allison Olson, Dylan and Bella VanDerBunt; two sisters, Judy Stone of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Sandy Gardner of Park Falls; two brothers, Victor VanDerBunt of New Berlin, and Mark VanDerBunt of Pewaukee; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers-in-law, Paul Stone and Terry Gardner.
A graveside service is pending.
