In loving memory of

Carla (Grace Winslow) Cook
June 9, 1958 - August 13, 2023

Carla Cook, 65, went home to be with Jesus--her Lord and Savior--on Sunday, August 13, 2023, in Ames.

Graveside services will be held in a private ceremony at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Carla Winslow was born on June 9, 1958, in San Diego California to Arnold and Katherine (Dillion) Winslow. She grew up in California and received her bachelor's degree in Journalism from Cal Poly, Pomona.

On June 19, 1982, Carla was united in marriage to Lyndon C. Cook, and they were blessed with three sons-- Jordan, Jared, and Joshua. In the early years of their family growth, they made their home in Fairfield California, Greenville Texas, Modesto California, Vancouver Washington and most recently--since 2005-- in Ames. Carla worked as an editorial staff writer for computer magazines until her sons were born and she became a homemaker and homeschool teacher.

Carla enjoyed horseback riding and camping with her family. She also spent much of her time attending bible studies and fellowshipping with the body of Christ. Most of all, Carla treasured time spent with Lyndon and her three sons. Carla was known for her genuine kindness, compassionate interest in other people and for making long-lasting and meaningful friendships throughout her life. In many ways, Carla was considered God's grace to her family and friends.

Carla is survived by her husband of 41 years, Lyndon Cook; sons, Jordan (Kristen) Cook, Jared (Jessica) Cook, and Joshua Cook; and brothers, Arnold (Valerie) Winslow, Mark (Renate) Winslow, and Brian Winslow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Katherine Winslow, and brother, James Winslow.

Condolences and memories of Carla may be shared with her family on her tributes page.

"Lyndon and Carla were our neighbors when they lived in Greenville Texas. We became friends immediately. When I read Carla?s obituary and it said she was know for her kindness and long lasting friendships I thought ?I agree completely?. When we were neighbors the nighttime show Knots Landing was popular. We both watched that and would talk about it and for years after, and Lyndon and Carla had moved from Greenville, we would occasionally talk on the phone and reminisce about that show and it?s characters and laugh. But what I remember most about my sweet friend was her smile, her kindness, and her dedication to the Lord. She was a Christian and she lived that out daily. I love you Carla and will miss you. ?"
