In loving memory of

Ralph C Herbert
September 2, 1933 - August 9, 2023

Loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend passed away on August 9, 2023 in Federal Way, Washington at the age of 89. He was born September 2, 1933 in Ogden, Utah to parents Ralph and Janet Dixon Hebert (family of four children - sisters Shirley, Joyce and brother Paul). Ralph served in the US Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of The American Legion and The Fraternal Order of Eagles. Ralph was affectionately known as "Herb" and "Sonny." He met and married his loving wife Zina and they spent 40 wonderful years together. They loved traveling (especially to the Oregon Coast), dancing the night away, singing and having their family with them for all special occasions. He was a devoted, loving and caring husband to his wife, Zina, during her long illness before her passing. We always felt he was our mom's "Angel" for taking such wonderful care of her through the years. He was a gift to all of us and everyone who knew him. Ralph was a dedicated and hard worker as a machinist and in the way he lived life. He worked in Utah and California for Union Pacific Railroad. He also worked at Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, Utah. While living in Washington, he worked at the Bremerton Naval Base as a machinist. Along his journey while living in Utah, California and Washington, Ralph met and made many close friends. He always joined the parties, laughter and seeing people happy. We all loved his cooking and all the wonderful meals he prepared for his family and many friends. He loved his many cars throughout the years and when you drove to visit, it wasn't a surprise that before you left that your car was washed and polished to perfections. He was always there for us and everyone in need of love, help and support. He is survived by his step-daughters Claudia Bavelas, Pamela (Berne) Pulsipher, step daughter in-law Deborah, grandson Andrew Mitchell (father Lamar), granddaughter Michaela Ballstaedt (fiancé Mark), grandson Clegg (Leslie) Mabey, granddaughter Andrea Wilson, grandson Lance Brophy, nephews and nieces, and extended families of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters and brother, step son Michael Ballstaedt, daughter Tara Mitchell, granddaughter Tessa Sperry ne'e Mitchell and step son in-law Spero Bavelas. As you fondly remember Ralph (Herb/Sonny), please consider donating to your favorite charity and extend love to all you care about around you. A private "Celebration of Life" will occur at a later date.
