Shirley Dobson
June 11, 1937 - September 12, 2023

Shirley Halama Dobson, of Antigo, died on September 12, 2023 at The Bay at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. She was 86 years old. She was born on June 11, 1937 in Polar, a daughter of Kamil and Myrtle (Frances) Halama.

She was a graduate of Waukesha High School. Shirley worked for Koss Stereophones in Milwaukee until moving to Antigo where she was a certified nursing assistant at Friendship Manor. She later worked at the Antigo County Market, Copps, and Festival Foods in the tot spot.

Shirley was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and Antigo Bible Church where she sang in the choir at both. She enjoyed flowers and plants, tending her garden, and spending time with her grandkids.

Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Garcia Rhodes of Antigo and Theresa (Kevin) Yoakum Van Zant of Appleton; a son, Julian (Kim) Garcia Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; twelve grandchildren, Dawn Marie Dobson of Tampa, FL, Erika Dobson of Milwaukee, Marissa Dobson of Red Bank, NJ, Joseph Dobson of Red Bank, NJ, Joshua (Brandy) Garcia Bray of Antigo, Melissa (Chris) Hansen of Neenah, Kenny Schoeff, Jessica Garcia, Racheal (Mike) Berent, Nichol (Paul) Garcia, Genivieve Tapia, and Manuel Tapia all of Phoenix, AZ; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine Luther of Marshfield; a brother, David (Dede) Halama of Phoenix, AZ; and an ex-husband, Joseph Silas Dobson of Phoenix, AZ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Kathrine Garcia Tapia and Patricia Mary Dobson; son, Joseph Thomas Dobson; daughter-in-law, Kim Garcia; brother, Jim Halama; and ex-husband, Julian Garcia, Sr.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Fletcher Larson officiating. Burial will take place in the Town of Polar Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12 p.m. at the funeral home until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
