Colin "Chuck" Handeyside
October 16, 1937 - September 13, 2023

Colin C. "Chuck" Handeyside, of Elcho, died on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 in his home surrounded by loved ones. He was 85 years old. He was born on October 16, 1937, in Antigo, a son of Gordon and Ruth (Borth) Handeyside. He married Beverly Donovan on May 21, 1960, at St. Luke Lutheran in Elcho.

He graduated from Elcho High School with the class of 1955. He also attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, River Falls, and Nicolet Technical College.

Chuck served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963.

Mr. Handyside taught business rental property at Nicolet Technical College. He also worked for the commission of public school lands and ran a school bus business and service station. He became an AMOCO Oil agent, as well as owned and operated Handey Realty until his retirement.

Chuck was a life member of the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post 377, Elcho, and a Voiture Militaire of Langlade County Voiture 1204, 40 et 8. He was also a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and served on the church board for many years, including as president. He served as past president of the Elcho-Pelican Lake Lions Club. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Chuck was an original member of the Elcho - Snow Devils and a part of the Enterprise Water Sports Club.

In addition to his wife of 63 years Beverly, survivors include a son, Earl (Colleen) Handeyside; a sister, Peggy Space; and a sister-in-law, Rosemary Handeyside;.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Thomas Handeyside; and a brother-in-law Allen Space.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Sunday, September 24 at 2 p.m. at the Elcho Cemetery.
