JAMES 'JIM' LEE LANE
MUSCATINE, Iowa - James 'Jim' Lee Lane, 77, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at University of Iowa Hospital.

Military Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in the Soldier Section of Greenwood Cemetery. Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Memorials may be made, in care of his daughter Nikki, to It Takes a Village Animal Rescue and Resources. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.


Jim was born on April 27, 1946, in Muscatine, the son of Lee N. and Iona M. LaRue Lane. He married Viola Werner, they later divorced. He then married Penny Axtell.

Jim was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam war from 1965 until 1967. He retired from Cargill. Jim would do anything for you. He enjoyed going to the casino, talking to people, and fishing with his brothers. He thought he was a comedian and would love to make people laugh. He loved animals, feeding the birds and raccoons, and especially loved his cats.

Jim is survived by his wife, Penny Lane of Muscatine; two children, Nikki Lane of Muscatine and Karin Reid and husband, Scott, of Letts; five siblings, Rick Lane and wife, Gina, of Muscatine, Ron Lane and wife, Dawn, of Muscatine, Randy Lane of Letts, Todd Lane and wife, Rochelle, of Muscatine, and Steve Lane and wife, Debbie, of Muscatine; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Jayme Lee Lane; and sister-in-law, Cindy Lane.
