"Uncle John taught we the fine art of the crane game down the shore, many good memories of him down there and many dollars spent each year trying to win the popular toy. He was the fun uncle for sure and would always go in the water with us no matter how cold. I can picture him aunt Lee and my grand parents waking down the boardwalk as me and my cousins shuffle off to the next arcade. Really great memories"

"I will always remember the great times had with family at Uncle Johnny?s house for halloween. He would always call me ?Johnutz? and tell me about how his Italian aunts and uncles would always call him the same. He had many talents, some of which were pretty gross but that all added to his charm and humor. Johnutz will be remembered dearly for his wit and commitment to his family, love you Uncle Johnny."

"I will miss you, Uncle Johnny. I'll always remember having some 'old fart' come up to me on the beach and sneeze seaweed at me; I will definitely be using that one on my nieces and nephews. You created so many fun childhood memories, from Halloween parties to your Christmas Santa and so much more. You were always so full of life, trying to make every moment fun and enjoyable. You will be in our hearts forever.
Love, Jessica Ray"

"Uncle John was one of the funniest people that I knew. He was always joking around and pulling fun pranks. He would babysit for us when we were young and was like an older brother to my sisters and I. He was a big part of our life growing up. John and I both worked downtown in NYC and would get together often for lunch. We all remember him fondly for all the good times at the NJ shore. He also had the best Halloween parties. My hearts go out to the family. Missing you Uncle John!!!

" I will dearly miss my Uncle John, younger brother to my mother Rosemarie. My Uncle John, his wife, his mother, and the twins, as he got older, spent all the holidays at our house. There was barely a Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving or vacation at the shore that I didn?t see my Uncle John. For some unknown reason whenever Santa Clause come to our house Uncle John would take a nap and always seemed to miss Santa. Uncle John had a unique sense of humor, spent countless hours working on projects with my dad at our house, was an avid garage sale hunter, and hosted the best Halloween parties. As I grew older, we became much closer. I will never forget all the late-night bike rides we would go on. I would have one of my many kids strapped to the bike seat and we would ride around and talk for hours. We became very close. My children were also lucky enough to enjoy the unique person ?Uncle John? was during our annual, multi-generational family vacations at the Jersey Shore. My uncle John was the family historian. He knew all the stories, could tell you who was who in old photos and knew the family ?secrets?. Uncle John was more than an uncle he was like the older brother we ?Walsh girls? didn?t have. As he got older, John had a new focus in his life, his grandchildren. He loved his new job taking care of Dory and Erin and loved how they seem to take care of him and Lenora as they got older. It was clear how much he loved his mother, wife, children, and his grandchildren. My family and I are saddened by the loss of such a special soul but will cherish the countless memories Uncle John has created with all of us. Uncle John will be in our hearts forever. All our love, Carole, Christopher, Jessica, John and Catherine Ray

"Uncle Johnny,
The Jersey Shore was a big part of my childhood and you were a big part of my experience at the shore. I was too young to watch Beavis and Butthead but I remember sneaking to watch it with you and Uncle Dave. I always looked forward to your Halloween party and sharing with your family. Thanks for all the good times!

"Uncle Johnny always had a smile on his face. He was my Great Uncle and he was around for all the Holidays, he would throw the best Halloween parties and came to the shore for our yearly vacation. I have a lot of fond memories with him. He was one of a kind and he will truly be missed. All my Love, Kathleen Kearns"

"My Uncle John straddled the ages between myself, my sisters and my parents. He is 10 years older then me and was fond of saying I made him an Uncle at 14. At the same time, he is 14 years younger than my mother, his big sister, Rose. He often said my mother and father (Pete) were like parents to him.
.As the years past he became more like a friend and equal with my parents. He would help my father with the many projects needed when owning a home. My father while very intelligent, was not handy like my Uncle John. There were many projects large and small, including a number of iterations of that darn deck!
Through the years we would see him for most of the holidays. He would bring my grandma. He would come and stay for Christmas Eve but would mysteriously disappear when Santa showed up. We loved his Halloween parties. There were new decoration each year, as well as, the ole favorites (all from flea markets).
As my sisters and i grew up and had our kids we spent many years with Uncle John at the shore rental in ?fleaside heights?. Memories of the ?ine ellar?, ?your going the wrong way?, walking the boardwalk, the arcade games and the infamous note about the owner putting in air conditioning . Then there was him watching Ren & Stimpy with the rest of the youngster ? he fit right in!
Uncle John was the glue that kept us connected to the huge italian side of the family. He will be missed.
Love Kathy and by proxy my parents, Rose and Pete."

"You were my Uncle and Godfather to my son but you were more like a wonderful, goofy big brother. I will never forget the fun times together as children. The sleigh rides at Elliot Place, visits to the airplane park, the petting zoo, running from the cat with the bitten back, Christmas at my parents, those spooky Halloween parties..... As adults sharing our time and families at the Jersey Shore. A tradition you helped start and carry on! I will love you forever and will miss you.
My love to Aunt Lenora, Tom, John, Denise, Dory, ad Erin.
Very Fondly, Mary Ellen "
