In loving memory of

Phil Hollmann
June 2, 1942 - November 20, 2023

Phil Hollmann, of Pickerel, passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 2023 at his home. He was 81 years old. He was born on June 2, 1942 in Owen, a son of Edward and Eleanor (Seidel) Hollmann.

He was raised on a farm in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester High School, class of 1960, and attended Marquette University. He later married Fran Schmidt and had three daughters together. He began his career as a cost accountant for Pauly Cheese Company in Green Bay. In 1985 he married Peg Zais. They finished their careers at Beatrice-ConAgra in Waukesha and retired to Pickerel in 2000.

Phil was a long-time member of the Tombstone Pickerel Sno Club, serving as president and trail groomer for many years. He volunteered for the Pickerel Crane Lake Association and the Town of Nashville. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, playing Sheepshead, and spending time with his coffee group every morning. Phil and Peg took trips to Mexico and the Dominican Republic, but nothing beat the annual Grandma and Grandpa Snowmobile Ride to the U.P. Phil will be remembered for the great care he took of his lawn and having an Old Milwaukee beer in his hand while he did.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, Peg Hollmann, survivors include his three daughters, Michelle (Richard) Mirek of De Pere, Sheila Desotelle of Flushing, MI, and Laura Hollmann of Lake Villa, IL; a bonus-daughter, Lynn Zais of Oshkosh; a bonus-son, Michael (LeeAnn) Zais of Milwaukee; five grandchildren, Kayla Desotelle, Jake Desotelle, Josh Richards, Emma Zais, and Claire Richards; a sister, Gail (Wayne) Radtke of Rothchild; a brother, Steve (JoAnne) Hollmann of Appleton; and a sister-in-law, Bev Hollmann of Platteville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Hollmann; grandson, Matthew Richards; and Fran Hollmann.

A funeral Mass will be held on November 25 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Arul Kennedy Gaspar officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at church.
