In loving memory of

Michelangelo Gennarelli
January 1, 1947 - January 4, 2024

Michelangelo Gennarelli passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024. Of Bellmawr, NJ, formerly of South Philadelphia, PA. Age 77. Beloved husband of Jean (nee Calandra) Gennarelli for 55 loving years. Devoted father of Michael Gennarelli (Lori) and Christian Gennarelli. Loving Pop Pop of Jessica, Danielle, and Michael, Jr. Adoring Great Grandfather of Quinten. Dear brother of Elizabeth Fattore, Matilda Gennarelli, Diane Gennarelli, and the late Celeste DeAngelis. Michael is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Michelangelo was born on New Year's Day in his beloved Cerro al Volturno, Molise, Italy. Mike, as he was known, immigrated to the United States at the age of 13, settling in South Philadelphia with his family. He was a US Army Veteran serving in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Mike married the love of his life, Jean, in the summer of 1968. He worked as a small engine mechanic for the City of Philadelphia. Later in life, he moved to Bellmawr, NJ. In his free time, Mike enjoyed listening to the oldies, playing chess, engaging in card games such as pinochle and scopa, as well as having lively discussions about sports and politics. He found joy in the strategic nature of these activities and the camaraderie they fostered. Diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia early in life, his journey was marked by resilience in the face of adversity. His memory will be forever cherished by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Services are private at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike's honor to Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance: https://www.curefa.org/
