David S. Bedford
December 16, 1943 - January 24, 2024

David S. Bedford, of Elmhurst, died on January 24, 2024 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. He was 80 years old. He was born on December 16, 1943 a son of Thomas and Eva (Antone) Spencer. He married the love of his life, April Hoeppner, on December 24, 1974.

David and April had many businesses throughout their years together, beginning with his truck repair business and moving on to the Little Black Hawk Go-Karting and Horse Trail Rides. A desire to help local teens stay out of trouble, they opened the Red Robin Teen Lounge. After moving to Flagstaff, Arizona, David was a commercial and residential building contractor for many years.

He was proud of his Native American heritage and loved making Native American Jewelry and Dream catchers. David loved telling jokes even if they weren't that funny.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, April; four daughters, Velvet Bedford of Antigo, Brandy Roudabaugh of Antigo, Theresa (Lee) Dematos of Massachusetts, and Laura Helmbrecht of Indiana; nine grandchildren, Tyson Bedford, Jr., Erik Bedford, Hudson Bedford-Swearingin, Cole Bedford, Natalie Bedford-Swearingin, Mercedes Mahaffey, Allison Byrnes, Justine Roudabaugh, and Karli Bell; four great-grandchildren, Roman, Sophia, Mona and Rio; a special nephew, Johnny Spencer; two sisters, Debra Lindemann and Lynda Spencer; five brothers, Doc (Rose) Spencer, Ron (Sandy) Spencer, Dan Spencer, Bill (Becky) Spencer, and Ken (Sue) Pacer; three sisters-in-law, Rosella Spencer, Pat Spencer and Rita Spencer. He will also be missed by his one-pound eight-ounce Yorkie, Little Star.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tyson Bedford; two sisters, Judith and Bonnie; and four brothers, Randy, Lee, Thomas and James.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 4 at 4 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

I remember when he came to California (him and Vaughn Nichols) he would give me a quarter every time he came from work if I had a western on the T.V. He was such a special Uncle.
