In loving memory of

David Alexander Shorin
July 24, 1969 - February 28, 2024

On Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, the soul of David Alexander Shorin, 54, transitioned from his body into the hearts and memories of his family, loved ones, and friends.

David hailed from New York City and summered on Fire Island. After moving to Sarasota with his family, he spent some of his early adulthood in New Hampshire, New Mexico, and Tennessee, before landing back in Sarasota.

Dave was a kind and gentle man, who always kept others in mind as he navigated through this world. He was smart, witty, and had a knack for finding humor in almost every situation. From an early age, he had a passion for computers and technology. He always jumped on the opportunity to help the community get their systems back up and running. He was a master at Scrabble, he could not be beat. He knew every two letter word, not just the four letter ones! If you knew him, you have definitely listened to the Grateful Dead at some point. He attended countless concerts and was a die-hard "dead head." Music was ever-present in his life. His spirit will live on in the tunes and melodies of the artists he shared with us. He will be dearly missed and loved forever.

He is predeceased by his father, mentor, and piece of his heart, Joseph Shorin.

David leaves behind his beloved mother, Maryanne Shorin, "little" sister, Jessica Shorin, four older siblings, Melanie Shorin (Greg Feldman), Valerie Lowe, Jocelyn Lyss (Andy), and Joe Shorin (Bonnie), and 11 nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local or a national mental health treatment program.
