Monte was the son of the late Everett and Gloria Vannorsdel and is survived by his brother Gary Vannorsdel and sister Vicki Stutzman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Toni Lenning.

A devoted husband to Pat Vannorsdel, Monte shared over 51 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. As a father to Dannelle and Russell Vannorsdel, Monte was a source of unwavering support, guidance, and affection. He also embraced his role as a father-in-law to David Thompson and Stacey Vannorsdel.

Monte attended Nevada High School, where he graduated in 1970. Following his graduation Monte served in the Army and met his wife Pat. After his honorable service, Monte returned home to embark on a new chapter, joining the family feed and fertilizer business.

Monte later ventured into his own business washing window where he found joy in interacting with customers, forming lasting connections, and spreading the Gospel.

Monte was an active member and leader of Crossroads Community Church Grimes and Willow Creek Open Bible Ames. He cherished his opportunities to work, guide and share the gospel with their youth. He found comfort, and additional family within the church's embrace. His unwavering love and passion for Jesus Christ left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

Among Monte's greatest joys in life were his grandchildren, Brooklynn and Jaedyn Thompson, and Evelynn Vannorsdel. He found happiness in their laughter, their accomplishments, and their presence in his life.

Monte's passions extended beyond his involvement within the church; he was an avid sports enthusiast and weather aficionado. Whether cheering on his favorite teams or marveling at the beauty of nature's elements, Monte found joy and wonder in the world around him.

Monte and Pat's shared love for travel led them on countless adventures, including England, Switzerland and scenic road trips to US state and national parks.

In the hearts of those who knew him, Monte will forever be remembered for his kind spirit, unwavering faith, and boundless love for his family, Jesus, and church community. His faith, peace and discipline will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
