Alfred E. Hoffman
June 19, 1929 - April 12, 2024

Alfred E. Hoffman, age 94, of Antigo, died on April 12, 2024 at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on June 19, 1929 in Langlade, a son of the late Henry and Anita (Buchman) Hoffman. He married Virginia Kaplanek on October 11, 1952 at St. James Catholic Church in White Lake.

He graduated from White Lake High School in 1948. A Korean War veteran, Mr. Hoffman served in the United States Marine Corps from 1948 to 1952 participating in the Inchon Landing and the battle of Chosin Reservoir.

Al was a butter and cheese maker at Bleicks Creamery in Bonduel. He moved to Antigo and was employed at Hyland Lakes for a few years. He had a 23-year career with Langlade County Hwy Department, retiring in 1991. Following his retirement he served as bailiff for Langlade County Circuit Court.

He was a member of SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church and the Anderson-Sather American Legion Post 524, White Lake.

Al enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, bowling, playing cribbage and spending time with his grandchildren. He also liked bird watching, reading, the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Big Al will be remembered for his love for life and his humor. His legacy will live on forever.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Virginia; four children, Richard (Donna) Hoffman of Plover, Robert (Cheryl) Hoffman of Greenville, Anne (Craig) Osborne of Antigo and Lynn (Dan) Duley of Antigo; seven grandchildren, Mark (Sarah) Hoffman, Paul (Lori) Hoffman, Ryan (Carrie) Hoffman, Eric (Erin) Hoffman, Alissa (Scott) Ralph, Brenna Osborne, and Luke Osborne; and 11 great-grandchildren, Talan, Conner, Kylie, Haylie, Hayden, Holtyn, Cora, Gavin, Luke, Nolan and Ella.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Donna Hoffman; a brother, Jack Hoffman; and a sister, Patricia Servi.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 19, at 11:30 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. George Daniel officiating. Burial will take place at St. James Catholic Cemetery in White Lake.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 19, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Eastview and Dr. Kneeland for the wonderful care provided to Al.
