In loving memory of

Margaret Parris
May 15, 1956 - June 28, 2024

Margaret Parris was born May 15th, 1956, the second daughter of the late Carol Jean (Joiner) Soppe and Bernard T. Soppe in Davenport, Iowa.

Margaret grew up in Durant where she graduated from high school in 1974. A year later she married Stanley A Sears Sr. and had two children, Stephanie Sears in 1978 and Stanley A Sears Jr. in 1980.

They lived in Rhode Island up until 1989 when she moved back to Iowa and divorced. A year later she moved to Port Orchard, Washington. She worked in a medical office while attending class at night for medical billing, which led to her working 26 years at Regency Blue Shield. Margaret met and married Paul Parris in 1999 and after 12 years they went their separate ways. They remained close and friendly up until he passed away in 2018 from cancer.

She retired at the age of 63 and moved back to Iowa where she reconnected with family. She was able to attend the family picnic on Labor Day of her mother's family and spend time with her great nieces, nephew, and sister. She was able to see her oldest granddaughter graduate from high school. Margaret always had a smile and a positive outlook. Even when she was battling cancer, she never let it stop her from smiling. She will be missed greatly! Margaret lost her battle with cancer and become an angel in heaven on June 28th, 2024.

Margaret is survived by two sisters, Judy Roenfeldt & Donna Proctor; two children, Stephanie Sears and Stanley Sears Jr.; one nephew, Joseph Roenfeldt; three great nieces; and one great nephew. She always had the saying "light goes on, light goes off." Even though her light is off, the light of her will never be off in our hearts.

A visitation will be held on July 26, 2024 from 4-6:00 p.m. at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care (414 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa 50010).

"Margaret was a friend to many at Regence BlueShield where she was very well liked. We lost touch after retirement, but I?m so glad we reconnected on Facebook. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone, and it was contagious. I?m so deeply sorry for your loss. May all the wonderful memories you helped to create with her help to bring you comfort during this difficult time. Sending you all my love and condolences. "
