While there, she made her home in the Denny Regrade starting in the mid-seventies. She served a stint in the House of Representatives in Olympia and later with the Department of Housing and Development. She had a lifelong love of reading and made good use of her Seattle Public Library card and loved going to live theater performances both in the Seattle area and in Ashland. She spent years volunteering as a reader for the Washington Library for the Blind. She was a longtime member of Mensa and an enthusiastic supporter of both Toastmasters and the Seattle Film Festival
