Ida Maria Seal (who preferred, to be called "Maria") was born in Nebraska in 1934. She spent the early years of her life in Nebraska, but her father died while she was still a child. When Maria's older brothers were stationed in Portland, OR during WWII, Maria and her mother and moved to Portland, OR to be closer to them. Maria entered Portland University with the intention of studying to become a nurse, while also pursuing her love of music - volunteering at community musical theater productions. There, she met Kenneth Seal, who became her husband, and she ended her University studies to pursue a career as a wife and mother. When Maria's children reached adulthood, she joined crafts clubs - learning to make beautiful decorations. She often put these skills to good purpose by providing decorations and gift baskets for fund raisers and other events in conjunction with her organizing work for community charities, King County Elections, and Republican Party for many years. Maria Seal died on August 10, 2025. She is survived by 7 children, 7 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
