George Edward Shaughnessy of Newcastle Washington passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 3, 2025. The son of Joseph and Helen, George was born on August 3, 1926 in Seattle Washington. A graduate of O'Dea High School and Seattle University, he proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He traveled extensively and lived life to the fullest.
George was predeceased by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife, Joan Ruth (McBurnie) Shaughnessy and his only brother, Joseph Dever Shaughnessy. He is survived by sons Steven (Kate), and Allan (Diane), 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and his long time partner Alice Lange.
George loved all sports, but was especially fond of his Mariners and his Seahawks. He made friends easily, loved his family and really enjoyed a good meal. He was dearly loved and is missed by all.
