Ruth Mae Schroeder passed away peacefully in her sleep February 14, 2026, just days after her 95th birthday. Ruth was born February 11, 1931, in Billings, Montana, to Albert & Fiona Brideson and spent her childhood there before the family moved to Seattle, WA. She attended Ballard High School and worked at Swedish Hospital before meeting her beloved husband of almost 70 years, Fred Schroeder.
Ruth is survived by her 5 children - Steve (Berit), Vicki Stark (Rick), Mark (Gale), Karen Gunter (Paul), and Chris (Julia); 6 grandchildren - Ben, Lindsie, Matthew, Luke, Gregory, and Allison; 5 great grandchildren; sister Pamela Kinnunen, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, her parents Albert & Fiona Brideson, her sister Elsie Voigt, and very sadly her great grandson Malakai Schroeder.
Ruth spent her early married years raising their 5 children. Ruth and Fred were active and dedicated members of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Seattle for over 65 years. Ruth & Fred enjoyed traveling and visited every state in the United States and many countries worldwide. She enjoyed spending time with her numerous friends and growing family, crossword puzzles, needlepoint, card games, Bible studies, and playing golf with her husband and friends. She also greatly enjoyed reading and was often found curled up with a good book. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. May heaven welcome her with open arms to be with her beloved family and friends who have passed on before her.
