Monita Macasil Cordero
December 22, 1942 - January 29, 2026

Monita Macasil Cordero, age 83, of Seattle, WA, passed away on January 29, 2026. She was born in Sipalay, Philippines, the second eldest of eight children born to Bienvenido Cordero Sr. and Emilia Cuenca.

She graduated high school with honors and attended the University of the Philippines as an entrance scholar, earning a degree in business administration in 1964. She was also a member of the Phi Chi Theta sorority.

Monita built a career in marketing and business in the Philippines before immigrating to the United States with her husband and two children, following her sister's family, the Tadeos. She later worked in business, finance, and healthcare, and owned and operated restaurants, reflecting her entrepreneurial spirit and love of food. She lived life on her own terms with strength and independence, while remaining devoted to her children.

Her Catholic faith was central to her life and a source of strength and comfort.

Monita was beautiful, smart, funny, kind, and strong-willed. She loved cooking, traveling, and celebrating life's moments, and was happiest surrounded by family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Elmer (Bernadette) and Christie (Erik); her grandsons, Isaiah, Isaac, and Logan; her sisters, Myrna and Melinda; and her brothers, Jaime and Manuel. She was preceded in death by her sister, Maris, and her brothers, Bienvenido Jr. and Franklin.

She will be remembered for her strength, faith, and love for her family.

May she rest in the peace of Christ and be embraced in God's eternal love.
