Beverly Ruth (Pollman) Schulke passed away on May 21, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born in Bridgewater, South Dakota, on December 14, 1940, and lived most of her adult life in Ames, Iowa. Beverly was one of six children born to Samuel Pollman, Sr., and Bertha (Wipf) Pollman.
Beverly completed a professional certificate as a dental assistant and was working in Rapid City, South Dakota, when she met Byron K. Schulke. They were married in 1963 in Bridgewater, South Dakota, and moved to Ames, Iowa, where Byron worked at Iowa State University. They had two children, Kevin and Kathy.
Beverly was a homemaker and worked in food services at Mary Greeley Hospital and the Ames Public Schools. When not working, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking, and listening to music.
Beverly is survived by her son, Kevin Schulke, her daughter, Kathy (Richard) Irwin, and many cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Schulke, by her parents, Samuel and Bertha Pollman, three brothers, Samuel (Shirley) Pollman, Jr., Joseph Pollman, and Kip Steinberg (John Pollman), and two sisters, Bertha (Willard) Becker and Bernice (Dale) Fincher.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Memorial Lutheran Church, located at 2228 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa, 50014 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Memorial gifts may be made to the Dementia Society of America or Memorial Lutheran Church.
