David Liebergen, 59, Suamico, has gone home to the heavenly Father on Saturday evening, April 24, 2004 following a brief illness. He was born on June 27, 1944 in Green Bay to the late Martin and Eileen (Mercier) Liebergen. He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 1964 to Jan. 1967 in Germany. He was a specialist assigned to the 124th Dental Unit. On Feb. 3rd, 1968, he married the former Susan K. Staszak at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, the first wedding in the church. David was employed by Georgia-Pacific West (formerly Fort Howard Paper Co.) for 37 years. He was a member of Sts. Edward & Isidore Catholic Church. He was formerly an assistant Little League coach, Cub Scout leader, assistant scout leader and committee chairman for Troup 1563 of Ashwaubenon for 20 years and advancement chairman for Troup 1107 for the past five years. David co-chaired the first Nativity Church Thanksgiving dinner, worked with outreach delivering food to the needy, worked on the Family Life committee and ran the government cheese program. He loved fishing, and especially hunting at his friend's, (Darrell Heling) land. He collected models for many years. David devoted his time to his wife and family, the most important part of his life. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Susan K. Liebergen; three children: Scott (fiance, Leah Smith), Green Bay, Jody (Aaron) Shaha, Sykesville, MD, and Matt, Green Bay; and one granddaughter, Hayden Weininger; two sisters: Barbara (Robert) Krause, Greenville, GA, and Susan E. Liebergen, Green Bay; one brother, Paul Liebergen, Green Bay; mother-in-law: Ruth Staszak, Ashwaubenon; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Joseph Staszek. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Ave. at Ridge Rd., where a parish wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Edward & Isidore Catholic Church, Flintville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dave Kasperek officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery. The family would like to thank the staffs of St. Mary's 3rd floor and Oncology Dept. and Unity Palliative and Hospice Care as well as Sandy from Sts. Edward & Isidore Catholic Church for the very special care that was provided to David.
