Richard A. Kroening, 57, Green Bay, died unexpectedly at his home, Sunday, May 16, 2004. He was born December 31, 1946 in Green Bay to Marion (Bonno) Kroening and the late Phillip (Biz) Kroening. On September 10, 1966, he married Mary Lou Bergner at Annunciation Catholic Church in Green Bay. Richard served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 ? 1970. Richard owned and operated Woodside, Airview, and Eagles Nest restaurants; Food Service Wholesale; and St. Agnes Bakery. He was past president of the Green Bay and Wisconsin Chapter of Wisconsin Restaurant Association (WRA). He was the recipient of the Restaurateur Award. Richard was a member of the Political Action Committee and really believed people participating could make a difference. He was also involved in Small Business Forms in Washington D.C., in which his son, Ryan, accompanied him. Richard retired in 2001 and really enjoyed his retirement time. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; one daughter, Andrea (Jim) Solper, Green Bay; one son, Ryan, at home; mother, Marion Kroening, Green Bay; two sisters, Sharon (Stephen) Hartwell, Sandra Gerbers, all of Green Bay; mother-in-law, Mary Bergner; five brothers-in-law, Ed (Bobbie) Bergner, Bill (Debbie) Bergner, Pat (Karen) Bergner, David Bergner, Harry Bergner; two sisters-in-law, Katie (Bob) Stollberg, Linda (Peter) Beth; many nieces and nephews; and his special family from Northern Ireland, Hugh and Morag Magil, Andrea and David Johnston. He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip (Biz) Kroening; and father-in-law, Harold M. Bergner. Friends may call from 4 ? 9 PM Tuesday (TODAY) at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Lombardi Ave. at Ridge Rd., Green Bay where a Wake Service will be at 7 PM. Visitation continues after 10 AM Wednesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1484 Ninth Street, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Burial in Ft. Howard Memorial Park. A Memorial Fund has been established in Richard's name. The family would like to thank the Green Bay Rescue Squad for all their help. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, his ?Lou?; his son and pride and joy, his ?RaRa?; and his daughter, ?Di? and her Jimmy. He will be missed by his restaurant customers and people who worked for him, by his family and friends and many whose lives were better because he was part of their lives.
