David Biersteker

David Joseph (Joey) Biersteker, age 50, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2006 following a recent diagnosis of lung cancer.

He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth ?Betty? (Beno) Biersteker, his Grandmother Lorraine Beno, two sisters and their families; Diane Biersteker and her husband Tom Erler, Sue Mattice and her husband Jerry.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Biersteker, grandparents George and Anna Biersteker, and Norris Beno.

David, called ?Uncle Joey? by his nieces and nephews was always known as the ?FUN? uncle. He is survived by two nieces, three nephews, and one great nephew; Ben Erler and his wife Crystal and their infant son Tommy, Nick Erler, Annie Erler, Ken Mattice (fianc?e Shelley Bard), and Angie Mattice.

A 1974 graduate of GB West High, David attended the United States International University for the Performing Arts, San Diego CA and St. Norbert's College, De Pere. He enjoyed singing and dancing all his life. After high school he performed for 3 summers with the Kids from Wisconsin and for many years participated as a dancer in the Nutcracker and Cinderella productions with Shirley Van and The Dance Company, as well as multiple musicals with Dudley Birder at St. Norbert's College. Other interests included raising tropical fish, gardening, and the annual reunion with family and close friends at Crivitz the week of July 4th .

David worked in the food and beverage industry since his college days including international cruise ships and several local restaurants. He was very proud of being part of the team that opened the Hard Rock Casino/Hotel in Las Vegas NV where he lived for several years. At the time of his death, David was an employee of Thornberry Creek Country Club.

A celebration of his life and sharing of memories is scheduled for Friday, May 12th at St. Jude's Catholic Church, 1420 Division St. Green Bay. Visitation will take place at the church beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a 12 noon memorial service with the Rev. Pete Renard, O. Praem officiating. Lyndahl Funeral home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
